This past June, Briana Ponzini-Britt 29-year-old, wife of the 15u Long Island Rebels Coach Paul Britt, was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor.

Briana was a full-time teacher at St. Mary’s in East Islip as well as a substitute teacher before she had to leave teaching due to previous pregnancy complications. Briana has been out of work for over 2 years as her and her husband Paul continued their dream to start a family.

This past June, Briana and her husband welcomed a healthy baby girl Blakely. Tragically, shortly after giving birth Briana was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with a rare grade 4 DIPG brain tumor. DIPG is an aggressive and inoperable brain tumor that is very difficult to treat.

With a newborn daughter, mounting medical expenses and a long road of treatment ahead for Briana, we ask for your support for the Ponzini-Britt family. Over the weekend the Long Island Rebels squirt major team partnered up with the Stonybrook Ice hockey team and volunteered at the League of Yes. The League of Yes’ mission is to establish and sustain baseball programs for people (of all ages) with disabilities. Their objective is to provide an opportunity for those individuals to experience the joy and benefits that come from playing our national pastime. Our Rebel team played a vital part in the events success by directing the players running the bases, helping them bat, interacting with the players while in the field, and lastly creating the "tunnel of love" around the third base line cheering and high fiving the players as they round third base and head for home! It was a great time had by all! 

CONGRATS to the LI Rebels 18u team in winning the Mid Atlantic Summer Showcase.  The boys came out of pool play with a 3-0 record, earning the #1 seed in the playoffs.  Taking on Tomorrow's Ice in the Quarter Finals, the Rebels dominated from puck drop and advanced to the Semi Finals against Philadelphia Blazers.  In a game that contained speed and physicality, the Rebels were able to put up 3 unanswered goals and punch their ticket to the Finals.  With a much-anticipated tilt against the New Jersey Colonials in the Championship, the Rebels were able to break through in the 2nd period, proving to be the game winner, and walk away with the Title in a 3-0 win.  Congrats to all the boys for a great weekend of resilience, determination and grit.  Well deserved.

  Lisa Wild has been the Social Media Director and Education Counselor for our organizations for many years has left the cold weather of the Northeast for the sunny skies of Florida.    Lisa started with us while her son Noah was playing for the Rebels organization.   Noah played thru the Rebels levels and is now a minor league professional hockey player with the Elmira Mammoth in the Federal Prospects Hockey League.   We are saddened to have Lisa leave us as she has been a great asset to our Rebels, Hawks, and Lady Islanders teams.   Lisa thank you for all you did for our organizations, our teams, and all our players.  We will miss you.

We lost one Lisa and found another.   Lisa Tuozzolo who has been with the Rebels for two years (sons Austin & Joseph) has accepted the position of Social Media Director for all three organizations.    We are pleased to have Lisa join our organization and look forward to working with her.    If you want to have something posted on our social media pages contact info for Lisa can be found on our websites.
